How the Magic Happens: Our Upholstery Process
- Our furniture upholstery process begins by stripping down your furniture. We always remove the original layer of cloth, rather than placing the new material over your existing upholstery. We then make any necessary repairs to the frame, ensuring a solid, strong foundation. We look out for any loose joints that may need to be dowelled, glued and screwed.
- At this stage, we will carry out any requested French polishing that has been requested and agreed upon, or else simply carry out a light button polish, which we offer as standard.
- We then look at the furniture’s springs and webbing, examining your item to see if anything needs to be replaced.
- The padding fixed to the frame is checked and replaced as needed.
- We then add new feather inners, fillings or foams that you have requested for the back or base cushions. The type of inners, whether natural or foam, will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
- This is the exciting stage – when we upholster your furniture with your chosen cloth, leather or faux leather. We also add finishing touches such as braids, studding, piping, new legs and castors.
- At this point we quality check your furniture to ensure it’s been completed to our very high standards.
- Finally, we wrap your upholstered furniture with protective sheeting. We’ll invite you in to look at the finished piece and pay the final balance. Your furniture is now ready to be picked up or delivered.
