What We Did
We recently partnered with BARC Architects on a stunning residential project to create a bespoke banquette seating feature for their client’s home. The brief was to deliver something that not only looked elegant but also seamlessly blended with the architecture of the home, a piece that was as much about craftsmanship as it was about comfort.
The Design
The vision was a fluted back banquette with rounded corners and a plain base, designed to soften the alcove it was tailored for and create an inviting yet luxurious seating area. In addition to the banquette itself, our team supplied:
- The framework and boards for the surround
- Base cushions for lasting comfort
- Wall upholstery panels to complete the stunning alcove seating
All upholstery was finished in Warwick Plush Velvet (Teal), a fabric known for its rich texture, durability, and timeless style.
Unique Installation Approach
This project was unique because the back of the banquette was hung directly on the wall rather than fixed to a free-standing structure. To achieve this:
- 1. A lattice framework was installed on the walls first, with push-fixings pre-installed for precision.
- 2. Our expert installation team then fitted the upholstered fluted panels onto the framework, ensuring that all edges remained perfectly flush with the wall.
- 3. Every fixing point was concealed, leaving a flawless finish that highlighted the upholstery rather than the structure behind it.
This careful attention to detail is what sets projects like this apart. By combining technical expertise with design precision, we were able to deliver a clean, seamless result that matched the architect’s vision perfectly.
The Result
The finished banquette transformed the space, creating a standout feature within the home, creating a statement seating area that feels both luxurious and inviting. Teal velvet adds depth and warmth, while the fluted detail brings an element of sophistication and softness to the space.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, and expert upholstery can turn a simple alcove into a standout feature that elevates an entire room.
