What We Did
South West Upholstery was commissioned by the Ministry of Defence to reupholster 140 dining chairs for their Officers' Mess. The aim was to refresh and upgrade the seating while maintaining comfort, durability, and a polished, formal look suitable for a prestigious military setting.
Our Approach
Each chair was stripped back to its original frame, allowing our team to assess and address wear and tear at the structural level. New webbing and high quality foam was installed where needed to restore full support and comfort.
To minimise disruption to the daily operations of the Officers’ Mess, we organised a phased collection and delivery schedule. The chairs were handled in manageable batches, ensuring continuity of use for the client and allowing our workshop to maintain high standards throughout the process.
Materials & Finish
The selected upholstery was JMT Austen Malbec leather, a premium material known for its durability, rich tone, and refined texture. This finish provided both visual impact and long-lasting performance, perfectly suited to the high-traffic environment.
The Result
The final result was a fully revitalised seating area that combined comfort, resilience, and elegance. The Officers’ Mess now benefits from an upgraded interior that reflects the heritage and professionalism of the Ministry of Defence, delivered on time and with minimal disruption.
