How much does it cost to reupholster a dining chair?
Are your dining chairs looking a little worse for wear? Rather than splashing out on a whole new set of dining chairs, consider reupholstery.
For a fraction of the price of new chairs, you can give your current ones a facelift, making them more comfortable and more stylish all in one go.
At South West Upholstery, we take great pride in our work; that’s why we work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want. We offer services from simple fabric-only cushion recovering, to more complicated projects with back cushions, studs and new cushion stuffing.
Want to know more about upholstering dining chairs? Below we’ve discussed the different factors that will affect the price of your dining chair reupholstery, and how you can contact us for a quote.
Reupholster dining chairs – what affects the price?
Without first seeing your chairs, it’s impossible for us to give a completely accurate quote on how much reupholstery would cost. This is
because there is such a wide variety of dining chair styles and each chair will be in a different state.
However, to give you a better idea of how much you would expect to spend, we’ve added a general price, as well as some previous
projects we worked on.
This price will vary depending on various factors, including the style of the chair, the price of the material
desired and the condition of the chair itself.
Base-only fabric recover – £30 per chair (excluding material)
Mrs S was bored with her tired and faded terracotta seats on her dining chairs and wanted to add a burst of colour to her home. She fell in love with a fabulous bright blue from a different material supplier – and as the material was compliant with our fire regulations, she bought the material and brought it to us to use.
We stripped the dining chair bases, added new foam to the cushioning and recovered them in the new fabric. Now they’re stylish – and comfortable! – additions to her dining room.
Base and back fabric recover with wood treatment – £200 per chair
Jessica had more complex dining chairs that had a base and a back cushion. We collected the chairs and stripped them back, replacing the old horsehair with new fire-retardant filling. We then used the materials she chose to upholster the dining chairs, as well as adding some individual studding as a design feature.
As the chairs were quite old, we cleaned and lightly polished the wood to spruce them up without changing their original character – and then
delivered them back to her. We were more than happy with the result, as the new chairs really brightened up the room.
