At #TeamSWU we take a personal approach, we take the time to understand each customer’s individual needs and realise every upholstery project is different.
For Mrs L, she had a well loved Victorian chair which was is need of some TLC. Mrs L brought in a photograph of her chair to store where we spent time discussing options with her to discover how she would like to transform the chair, and found out she wanted to bring some life back to chair and inject some personality into it. From the photograph we provided Mrs L with a written quotation for the work, outlining the labour cost, materials needed and explained the chairs inners would be assessed in the workshop.
Mrs L had wonderful ideas when it came to fabric choices, initially planning to use a fabric designed by a friend, to really make the chair unique. We discussed the fabric options to make sure the fabric chosen followed fire regulations and was suitable for upholstery. You can find out more about upholstery and fire regulations here. Mrs L decided against using her friends fabric as the design was on such a large scale it wouldn’t have suited this dainty little chair. Mrs L settled on a beautiful Aztec print in calming blue tones that she had sourced. Complemented with a tonal braiding, the colours worked beautifully against the wooden frame. Once confirmed we processed Mrs L’s deposit to secure her labour dates, order any material necessary and arrange a suitable time for Mrs L to bring the chair to the workshop in North Street.
Once the chair was in the workshop and stripped, we advised Mrs L of a few small structural repairs and recommended new springs to bring the chair back up to top condition. Work then begun transforming Mrs L’s chair. Items are usually in our workshop for 7-14 days, however this chair wasn’t with us long and soon emerged from the workshop with a new lease of life.
We love the transformation of this chair, with such a beautiful frame you can’t really go wrong, and the fabric chosen adds great personality. Once completed Mrs L was invited in store to view the finished product where she paid the remaining balance and Mrs L collected her sparkling new chair.
